About us
Garissa National School is one of the oldest schools in the North Eastern Region. It was established in 1969. It was among the several schools established by the local community on self-help basis. It started through a harambee initiative as a single streamed school and later taken Over by the government. The school admitted the first A-level class in 1978 and was the only school offering Arts subjects. It expanded to a double streamed school in 1986 , three streamed in 1990 and currently to a six streamed school. Since its inception it has produced over 7000 alumni. The students' population stands at 1456 and it has immense potential for further expansion and enrolment. It was elevated to national status in the year 2012 and the first national class sat for KCSE in 2015. Due to the school's consistent good performance, it has become an institution of choice for many students regionally, hence increased enrolment.
